Like computers, cordless tools were meant to make our lives simpler. In some ways they did, but like computers they brought along their own new set of issues. Different manufacturers used different charging systems and even in the same brands, the consumer was faced with having to rely on using different chargers for different tools. Shortened battery life cycles made tools worthless when the batteries would no longer hold a charge and as the batteries aged, the cycle time between charges became shorter.
10cTech, a Texas based electronics company has addressed these issues, simplifying matters for cordless tool users with its line of chargers that conditions batteries when it charges them and also has adapters to fit a variety of manufacturers' products. Extreme How To has been using 10cTech's Pro model that can charge four batteries simultaneously and has found the charger to be a nice addition during our projects.
Battery charge times are shorter with the 10cTech compared to the OEM recharging stations that came with the tools.
We also tried the Pro model with bringing dead batteries back to life. EHT borrowed a box of dead batteries from the local high school, 12 volt and 14 volt batteries that had been used for years and were no longer able to be recharged using the OEM chargers. We were able to revive 50 percent of those batteries, which made the school happy as now they were able to use those tools again. Some of the batteries we received had physical damage and the sensors built into the 10cTech charger signaled those units as bad and stopped the charging cycle on those units.
We liked the charger's ability to charge four batteries at once, a very handy feature if you have a work crew. Furthermore, the ability of the charger to fully charge batteries quicker than OEM chargers will reduce work stoppages resulting from dead batteries. 10cTech offers models that are powered by 120 volts, and also a 12 volt model. There are models that charge four batteries at once, or a model for one battery.
