For the past several weeks, the staff of Extreme How-To has been using the Earlex 2900 Finishing system. From low viscosity lacquers to thinned latex, the 2900 produced outstanding finishes with all products. Using the included viscosity cup we measured and adjusted the viscosity (thinned the paint) to the specifications of the Earlex Instruction Manual and we “shot” with minimal adjustment. This is the easiest system to adjust and is perfect for those new to HVLP. The only adjustments are liquid volume and spray pattern. The user simply fills the paint cup with the properly thinned paint, and adjusts the material flow while practicing on a scrap piece of wood or cardboard. HVLP excels at spraying low viscosity finishes such as automotive finishes and wood finishes used on furniture. But the 2900 handled thinned latex and produced results far better than typical airless or brush finishes. The Earlex 2900 comes with two metal tips, one for latex and one for fine finishes.

Cleaning the Earlex gun is quick. Just add water to the cup and spray until the spray shoots clear of all paint. For finishes using solvent, oil based and etc, use the thinning product recommended by the paint manufacturer in place of water.
Woodworkers, homeowners and hobbyist looking for a versatile finishing system that can be used with a variety of finishes, look no further. The Earlex 2900 HVLP paint system can apply finishes from low viscosity wood dyes to latex paints. Earlex is the top selling painting system in Europe and is now available in the United States.
The Earlex 2900 offers the beginner a professional finish every time with a wide variety of finishes, oils, varnishes, stains, latex, shellac, lacquers, sealers, acrylics and enamels too. Extreme How-To even shot thinned latex onto the exterior wall of a house and the finish was perfect. There is so little overspray your paint goes farther and makes clean up quick. The low pressure doesn't cause paint to bounce off the surface as it does with airless sprayers. How many times have you shot with an airless sprayer, only to find that there is more paint on surrounding areas than the surface you were trying to paint? Additionally, have you ever admired the fine finish of wooden musical instruments? That mirror like finish is achieved using the same HVLP technology offered in the Earlex 2900 Paint System. Where a pristine flawless finish is necessary, HVLP is the system to chose.
