Remove Paint from Concrete

Q: There are paint splatters on the concrete areas around my house. How can I remove them? The concrete is old and whatever seal it may have had is probably gone.

A: You could probably scrape most of the paint off with a paint scraper with a sharp tungsten carbide blade, and clean off what's left with a paint stripper or acetone. Latex paint is much more soluble in strong solvents like lacquer thinner and acetone than oil-based paint. Latex paint is also easier to scrape off concrete than oil-based paint. So your method of removal will depend in large part on what type of paint it is. If it's oil-based paint, you might have to use a heat gun to soften the paint while you scrape it off, and then use paint stripper to soften what remains.
